In 1995, The Resource Connection of Tarrant County was formed to share resources and solve problems together as a result of the closure of the Fort Worth State School. Believed to be the first of its kind public-private partnership in the nation, the Resource Connection co-locates a wide variety of agencies and services in a campus environment and provides the infrastructure that facilitates customers’ access to services. 

The mission of the Resource Connection:  The Resource Connection, through partner agencies, will provide employment, education, health & human services in a one-stop environment that efficiently utilize resources that promote self-sufficiency, self-reliance and wellness.

Tarrant County is the lead agency in this collaborative project and provides the administrative and management services for the agencies on the campus. 

The swimming pool, tennis court, softball field, outdoor volleyball court and gymnasium are available for wellness activities.  There are routes for walking, bike riding and jogging on campus, and space is available for training and conferences.

The Resource Connection is located on a 292-acre campus in southeastern Fort Worth, with regular bus service from the Fort Worth Transportation Authority.
