Opportunities for education in the forensic sciences are extended to law enforcement agencies and higher education institutions in our local area. Once a month our office holds an autopsy class. We have hosted such diverse organizations as the Fort Worth and Arlington Police and Fire Academies, soldiers from the U.S. Army, law clerks and staff for district court judges, nursing students, officers from local police departments, volunteer attorneys and law students from the Innocence Project, and pre-med, biology, criminal justice, and anthropology students from various local universities.
Attendees in our autopsy class receive a presentation on the medical examiner system in Texas and a virtual tour of our office facilities. Attendees then observe an actual forensic autopsy in a special amphitheater-style pathology classroom, following appropriate protocols of proper respect and dignity for the deceased person.
Space is very limited and fills quickly. If your organization is interested in attending, please contact Dr. Roger Metcalf, DDS, Director of the Human Identification Laboratory. 817-920-5700 ext. 160 email@example.com
